Core Curriculum Explanation

All students planning to obtain the Certificate of Ministry degree from Maranatha College are required to complete an identical, mandatory core curriculum.  The Certificate of Ministry degree serves as a prerequisite to the Associate of Ministry and Bachelor of Ministry degrees from Maranatha College.  The core courses are designed to give each student a foundational understanding of the teachings of the Bible and to introduce them to the basics of Christian ministry.  The core curriculum must be successfully passed with a cumulative 2.0 GPA or higher in order to earn the Certificate of Ministry degree or to continue in the Associate of Ministry program.  For students who receive less than a C- grade on any course may repeat the course to achieve a better grade.  Students who receive less than a 2.0 cumulative total GPA on the entire core curriculum should obtain help from the academics counselor.

To be accepted into the Bachelor of Ministry program, a student must have earned a 2.7 cumulative GPA or higher.

Core Curriculum Offerings

Freshmen level courses always begin with the number “1,” which identifies them distinctly from all other courses.  Completion of the core curriculum requires the following 35 credit hours of course study plus 5 hours of electives.  Once a student satisfactorily completes the 35 hour core and 5 hours of electives, he or she will earn the Certificate of Ministry degree.
